“Avoir une deuxième langue c’est posséder une deuxième âme.” — Charlemagne

Thank you for your interest in our school. We are delighted that you are considering a French-language education for your child and exploring the opportunity to join our community. Our admissions process welcomes both French-speaking and non-French-speaking children between the ages of 2 and 5. Applications are accepted from families in the Washington, D.C. area, as well as from out-of-state and international applicants.

Application and Admission Process

Families interested in enrolling their child at FMS typically follow these steps during the admissions process:

  • Attend an Open House

    October 1 and January 25

Families are encouraged to attend one of the school’s open house events, usually scheduled between October 1 and January 25, to learn more about the programs and community.

  • Submit the Application Form

    October 1 and February 1

Complete and submit the application form between October 1 and February 1, along with the $100 application fee.

  • Teacher Recommendation Submission

Ask your child’s current teacher to complete and submit the School Recommendation Form as part of the application.

  • Child Playdate Visit

    February 15 and February 20

Parents accompany their child to a scheduled playdate session, typically held between February 15 and February 20, allowing the school to observe children in a group setting.

After the playdate, the school may contact families if additional discussion regarding the application is needed. Admission decisions are generally shared by email in early March, and in some cases, applicants may be placed on a waitlist depending on program availability.
