Toute Petite Section (TPS)

(Pre Kindergarten-2)
18 mos – 2+ years old

The Toute Petite Section program is designed to introduce young children to the school environment in a gradual and supportive way. In this nurturing setting, children begin building relationships with their peers while learning daily classroom routines and developing independence. Through age-appropriate activities, children explore their creativity and imagination with arts and crafts while strengthening both gross and fine motor skills.

The program also encourages children to use their five senses to explore the world around them while developing early language and social skills. Students may attend two, three, or five days per week from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with optional aftercare and lunch programs available. Class size is limited to eight children with a student-to-teacher ratio of 1:4.

The Toute Petite Section welcomes our youngest learners, from 18 months to 2 years old, and provides a gentle and reassuring introduction to school life. At this early stage, the program focuses on creating a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable exploring their surroundings and building their first relationships outside the home.

A Gentle Introduction to School

For many children, the Toute Petite Section is their first school experience. The program is designed to help children transition gradually into a classroom environment through consistent routines, caring guidance, and age-appropriate activities.

Teachers support each child with patience and attention, helping them feel secure while discovering the joy of learning and interacting with others.

Social and Emotional Development

Developing social skills and emotional confidence is a key focus at this age. Children learn to interact with their peers, participate in group routines, and begin understanding cooperation and sharing.

Through daily interactions, children start building friendships and gaining confidence in a community-based environment, while also developing their own emerging sense of independence.

Language Development

Language development is encouraged through songs, storytelling, conversations, and interactive play. Teachers help children expand their vocabulary and encourage them to communicate their needs, feelings, and discoveries.

These experiences support early listening skills and foster a love of language in a natural and playful way.

Sensory Exploration and Discovery

Young children learn best through hands-on sensory experiences. Activities are designed to stimulate the five senses, allowing children to explore textures, sounds, colors, and movement. These experiences help develop curiosity and early cognitive skills while encouraging exploration and discovery.

Creativity and Motor Development

Children explore their creativity through simple arts and crafts activities, which support imagination and help strengthen fine motor skills such as grasping, holding, and manipulating objects.

Movement-based activities also support the development of gross motor skills, balance, and coordination through activities such as climbing, dancing, and guided play.

Encouraging Early Independence

Teachers gently encourage children to develop early independence through simple daily routines, such as tidying up materials, participating in group activities, and exploring the classroom environment.

These early steps help children gain confidence and prepare them for the next stages of learning.

Schedule and Class Structure

Students may attend five days per week from 8:50 AM to 2:45 PM, with optional aftercare and clubs available for families. Drop-off begins at 8:30 AM.

Classes are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 8 children per class and a student-to-teacher ratio of 1:4. Each class is supported by one teacher and one assistant, ensuring every child receives individualized attention and care.

A Loving Start to Learning

The Toute Petite Section provides a warm and supportive environment where young children can grow, explore, and develop their first school experiences with confidence and joy. Through play, discovery, and caring guidance, children begin building the foundations for lifelong learning.
